As part of content transformation, we’ve been looking at streamlining the news feed for About.hse.ie. The goal is to make it easier for users to find information that is relevant to them and helps them solve their task.

We want the news feed to be a communications tool that helps the HSE to engage with people and provides a meaningful repository of current information that we can link to from other parts of the website.

Press releases as a starting point

In the first instance, this means streamlining the publishing of national and regional press releases.

We will then widen the proposition outlined here and apply our learnings to other news items.

User needs

Based on our research and analysis we identified the following main user needs for press releases:

As someone interested in the HSE / a journalist

I need to find a national or regional press releases about a certain topic, event, development in the HSE

so that I can inform myself or verify my facts

I need to know about a national campaign, service, event etc. at the HSE
